Loras Football Camps
HEAD COACH STEVE OSTERBERGER OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR, QB'S COACH A native of Dubuque, Steve Osterberger begins his fourth season at Loras beginning in 2009. This is his second season as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach with the Duhawks. Osterberger was the Iowa Conference Coach of the Year in 2004 during his tenure at Buena Vista University (2000-2005). Osterberger left Storm Lake, where he spent ten years as a member of the staff, as the third winningest coach in school history.
In addition to his coaching accomplishments, Osterberger also helped institute several community initiatives. He managed the Rockin' Reader program at the local grade schools, implemented the Adopt-A-Highway program for the Beavers, and also organized a local Trick-or-Treat night for the children in the area and his football squad. Since arriving in Dubuque, his team has made three consecutive trips to Albrecht Acres, an area facility which provides services for people with special needs. The Duhawks have pitched in with some manual labor and maintenance to the facility each spring.
Osterberger is a graduate of Drake University, where he earned a degree in sociology. He spent four years as a starting quarterback for the Bulldogs and set 20 offensive records - including net passing yardage - with over 7,000 yards in the air. He earned the Jerry Howlett Memorial Award for Outstanding Athlete at Drake University in 1989. He also earned a master's degree in Administration of Education from Buena Vista University.
Steve and his wife, Lisa, have a daughter Alli (12) and a son Bryce (8). They reside in Asbury, Iowa.
